French Red Wines
Bordeaux
Bordeaux is unique in that it is the only wine growing region where no wines are made from any single type of grape. Each vineyard relies on two or three grapes which are well adapted to the nature of the soil. The proportions of individual types of grapes used determines the particular quality of the vineyard's output. It is therefore understandable that there should be a perfectly natural diversity in the characteristic taste of Bordeaux wines, especially when one realizes that the Bordeaux vineyards are the biggest fine wine producing areas in the world.
